About

the team at Sugar Loaf Barn

Sugar Loaf Barn is a family-run wedding venue, tucked away in the heart of the stunning Black Mountains and the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

Once a working farm building, the barn has been lovingly brought back to life – still full of rustic charm, but now with all the little luxuries you’d hope for in a countryside wedding escape.

Over 45 years ago, our parents, Andrew and Sally, moved to Abergavenny and bought Great Blaenawe Farm to follow their dream of farming sheep and raising a family in the Welsh hills. Fast forward to today, and we – their three sons, Will, Marcus, and James – have taken the baton and turned part of the farm into Sugar Loaf Barn Weddings: a laid-back, beautifully styled venue known for its incredible views, romantic feel, and rustic-chic vibe.

The farm is still going strong too – we raise around 600 lambs a year. James is our resident shepherd, so if you’re tying the knot in spring, especially in early May, you might just catch the joy of lambing season, with fluffy little lambs hopping about in the fields.

It really is a family affair here – Dad’s your tractor trailer driver, Mum pours the welcome drinks and lovingly plants and tends all the flower-filled planters and pots around the barn. Will’s wife Hersey is your wedding coordinator and go-to organiser, and Marcus’s wife Sheri runs our accommodation at Sugar Loaf Retreats (and is often behind the scenes on social media).

Our parents passed down their love of this land and the local community – so you’ll often find that our wedding day team is made up of lovely folks from the village and nearby. It means a lot to us to keep things local, personal, and full of heart.

with love,
Will, Marcus & James
